The Island Housing Trust is pleased to offer two 2-bedroom townhouses in the Wentworth Way neighborhood at 129 Lake Street, walking distance from downtown Vineyard Haven, to the first applicants who qualify. These homes and are currently under construction and will be ready to move-in in May/ June of 2012.

Wentworth Way is a small neighborhood of six homes located in three duplexes on a 1.38-acre parcel of land walking distance from downtown Vineyard Haven, designed by MacNelly Cohen Architects of West Tisbury and LDa Architects of Cambridge. Four of the six homes will be completed as part of the first phase of construction in the spring of 2012 . Two homes are being offered to families or individuals who apply earning 100% or less of the area median income for $225,000 on a first-come first-serve basis.

These two-bedroom 1,150 square foot townhouses include one and a half bathrooms, fully insulated basements, two off-street parking spaces, town water, shared septic systems, kitchen appliances; and are built to be very energy efficient (Energy Star Home Plus certified) with air tight foam insulated walls and high efficiency heating and ventilation systems. Building plans are included in the application.

The Island Housing Trust works with the six island Towns on Martha’s Vineyard when offering home ownership opportunities to island residents.   Home ownership opportunities are advertised in the local newspapers and the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority notifies income eligible households that have enrolled in the Island Affordable Homebuyer Clearinghouse.

The Island Housing Trust works with the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority, which manages 50 apartments throughout four island towns and can be contacted directly at (508) 693-4419 about rental availability.
